All of us want to have a certain role in the world. We all want to matter. We all want to make a difference – a good difference, in work, in someone else’s life, and in the world. A part of happiness is to find your higher purpose. To find your inner purpose is to strive for something bigger, even bigger than yourself.
Helen Keller once said “Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” In order to find true happiness, we should give meaning to our lives. We shouldn’t focus on ourselves. There are far more things in the world than ourselves.
Some achieve their purpose by giving back. While some choose to do the things that they love that makes their lives meaningful. Higher purpose and meaning of life is almost the same. What makes your life meaningful is its purpose. Your role in this world is more than just living every day and doing the exact same thing as yesterday. Just like your job, where you do the same things over and over again. Does it make you happy? Does your life progress because of it? Or you’re just doing it to live. To have money so that you can get on with the everyday struggles?
Meaning of Life
Life does not revolve in money. It helps, yes, but it does not make you genuinely happy. Find your purpose by not focusing on ourselves. Focus on what you can do with other people, with the community, and with the world. Focusing on yourself will just move into negative thinking. Look around. There are lots of people that need your help. Find your happiness. Do the things that make you happy. Do the things that you love and use that to help and inspire the community. Maybe your higher purpose is to help other people or to make a change. A change that will make this world a better place – for the people to live, for the people to love.
How about you? What is your life’s meaning? How will you find your higher purpose?
